My name is Marcus Atencio

I am a passionate software engineer hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the United States. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I embarked on an exciting journey to Japan. Although I initially settled in Osaka, I eventually found my place in Tokyo and have been thriving here ever since.

Living in Tokyo ignited my love for technology and software development. It all began with my personal project of creating Python-based tools for music production. As I delved deeper into this tech realm, I quickly realized the immense potential to create impactful tools that could genuinely benefit and assist people. This revelation inspired me to fully commit myself to software development, with a strong focus on coding for environmental sustainability.

To sharpen my skills, I underwent training at Code Chrysalis, where I honed my expertise in Full-Stack development. Their exceptional curriculum, combined with the guidance of instructors and collaboration with fellow classmates, equipped me with a well-rounded skill set.

Currently, I engage in freelance and contract work for Web3 organizations, primarily focusing on community support and growth. Additionally, I serve as a mentor to individuals who aspire to transition into the tech industry, just as I did. Immersed in the vibrant tech community of Tokyo, I actively participate in hacker houses, events, and meetups with fellow developers. My unwavering belief in reducing barriers to entry for aspiring developers drives me to foster a thriving and inclusive developer community.
